Florence Howard Elementary School recently hosted a Fall Festival, with the help of Fuse Project and Order of Fuse members. The ABC Academic Support Program collaborated with Round but Square Studios and The Cookery Project to provide monthly Art and Cooking Club sessions for students, focusing on social-emotional learning and hands-on culinary education. This initiative aims to create transformative opportunities for academic and personal growth, fostering a strong sense of community within the Avenue community.
Our annual Light the Fuse campaign addresses challenges in the Avenue community through providing funding for initiatives such as our ABC Early Learning Program and SPARK Summer Camp. It also brings awareness to our mission through fundraising efforts like our most recent LTF partner events with PJ’s Coffee, Lush, Bay City Boot Camp, and Ginger and Spice.
Fuse Project is on a mission to address the intergenerational impact of poverty and lack of opportunity in our community. Our annual fundraising campaign, Light the Fuse, aims to raise awareness and funds for education, housing, and wellness initiatives. This year we've also introduced the BOO! Project, a Halloween-themed initiative where participants can spread joy while contributing to the cause, with all proceeds used to support education programs for children in need.
As summer draws to a close, the excitement of a new school year emerges. To kickstart this chapter of learning and growth, Fuse Project and The Historic Avenue Foundation served back-to-school breakfast to the hardworking faculty and staff at three partner schools in the Avenue community: Florence Howard Elementary School, Calloway-Smith Middle School, and Pathway K-5.
This summer, Fuse Project was thrilled to once again have the opportunity to provide academic support in the Avenue community by partnering with Florence Howard Elementary School to coordinate the supplies needed for their "Candyland" 2023 Summer Academic Camp focused on literacy and math skills. Thanks to sponsorships and contributions from 30 individual donors, the Summer Academic Camp was able to provide essential educational materials and incentives to 180 eager students.
Fuse Project recently concluded its first-ever summer camp, leaving behind a trail of delighted kids and enriched minds. The camp's primary goal was to combat summer learning loss and provide engaging hands-on STEAM learning experiences for students from K4 to Fifth Grade. Thirty eager learners dove into literacy, math, science, and art, creating unforgettable memories along the way.
In May of this year, Order of Fuse awarded another $25,000 grant to The Historic Avenue Foundation ABC Program to provide academic support to three schools in the Avenue community - Florence Howard Elementary, Calloway-Smith Middle, and Pathway K-5. This academic support will include funding for learning incentives, the continuation of school clubs (Linking Learning to Life Clubs), and teacher appreciation.

Fuse Factory has had an “eventful” summer! We have welcomed a few new communal members to the space, hosted some great event rentals, and celebrated International Coworking Day!
In May our membership organization, Order of Fuse, celebrated the end of the membership year with a Spring Soirée. At this grand finale event with live music by Roman Street and good food at Bistro St. Emanuel, we also awarded the Sam Schjott Thumbs Up Order of Fuse Grant for $25,000 to The Cookery Project.
