Mission

Fuse Project is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing the spark for innovation, funding, and implementation of projects benefiting children along Alabama’s Gulf Coast. In partnership with The Historic Avenue Foundation, Fuse Project invests in initiatives promoting the health, fitness, education, and social responsibility of our children.

Goals

Working together with community members, our goal is to innovatively meet the needs of the community, catalyze transformational change, and break the cycle of generational poverty. Not only does this improve well being and quality of life for neighborhood residents, it also impacts far beyond the property lines to provide upward economic mobility for the neighborhood. We continue to make investments in mixed-income housing, cradle-to-college education, and community wellness to close the opportunity gap that exist in our community and ensure every child has an opportunity for success.

OUR STORY

Fuse Project was founded in 2012 by eight young professionals from Mobile, Alabama, with a belief that every child deserves an opportunity for success, regardless of their zip code, and has partnered with over 55 organizations to champion projects benefiting local children. In 2019, Fuse Project narrowed its geographical focus and launched The Historic Avenue Foundation, which operates as a community quarterback to bring together partners and opportunities for high-quality mixed-income housing, excellent cradle-to-college education, and community health and wellness for the Avenue neighborhood, located adjacent to downtown Mobile. This approach to holistic community revitalization is inspired by the Purpose Built Communities model and nationally proven to enact transformational change and break the cycle of generational poverty. A transformation that honors the rich history, legacy, and current citizens of the Avenue, empowering stakeholders to assist in creating new opportunities and solutions for the community.
