Celebrating the Educators Who Make a Difference: Spring 2026 Teacher Appreciation Across Avenue Schools

At Fuse Project, we know that student success begins with dedicated educators. Every day, teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and school staff invest countless hours into helping students learn, grow, overcome challenges, and reach their potential. Through our ABC Academic Support Program, one of the ways we support student achievement is by making sure the educators serving our Avenue schools feel appreciated, recognized, and valued for the important work they do.

Throughout the Spring 2026 semester, Fuse Project continued its quarterly teacher appreciation efforts at Florence Howard Elementary School, Calloway-Smith Middle School, and Pathway K-5. These efforts included teacher recognition gift cards, faculty meals, appreciation events, and opportunities for staff to step away from their daily responsibilities and simply enjoy being celebrated.

While students are often the most visible part of a school community, educators play an equally important role in creating positive outcomes. Research consistently shows that teacher morale and retention directly impact student achievement, school culture, and long-term academic success. When educators feel supported and appreciated, they are better equipped to build strong relationships with students, collaborate with colleagues, and create positive learning environments that help children thrive.

Throughout the year, principals at each of our partner schools identify educators who have gone above and beyond in serving their students and school communities. Fuse Project recognizes those individuals with $50 Walmart gift cards as a small token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

At Calloway-Smith Middle School, Fuse Project recognized several outstanding educators throughout the semester. During the third quarter, gift cards were presented to Ms. Stadmire, a sixth-grade social studies teacher who also assists with math and reading support; Ms. L. Jones, a seventh-grade science teacher known for creating engaging STEM-based learning opportunities; and Mr. Mulkey, an eighth-grade math teacher who encourages math discourse, peer tutoring, and collaborative learning experiences. Additional teacher and paraprofessional recognitions were presented throughout the semester based on recommendations from school leadership.

Teacher Appreciation Week also provided an opportunity to recognize Calloway-Smith faculty members with additional gift card awards and expressions of gratitude for their commitment to students throughout the school year.

At Florence Howard Elementary School, Fuse Project recognized educators from each grade level through quarterly gift card awards and helped host a special end-of-year Duty-Free Lunch. Thanks to the generosity of Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux, faculty and staff enjoyed a catered lunch while volunteers stepped in to supervise students in the cafeteria, allowing teachers the rare opportunity to enjoy an uninterrupted meal and spend time together as colleagues.

While a lunch break may seem simple, opportunities like these can make a meaningful difference during a busy school year. Giving teachers time to connect, recharge, and feel appreciated helps strengthen workplace morale and reinforces the message that their efforts do not go unnoticed.

At Pathway K-5, Fuse Project sponsored the faculty's end-of-year celebration and provided lunch from Moe's Original BBQ in recognition of the tremendous work educators do to support students with unique academic and behavioral needs. Volunteers Cecily Harper, Ann Cortopassi, and Savannah Shumake helped serve lunch and celebrate the faculty and staff members who make a difference in students' lives every day.

Fuse Project is grateful to Walk-On's and Moe's Original BBQ for helping make these appreciation efforts possible, as well as the many volunteers who donate their time to support faculty events throughout the year. We are also deeply thankful for the leadership of Principal Regina Flowers at Florence Howard Elementary, Principal Nedra Payton at Calloway-Smith Middle School, and Principal Kirsten Glover at Pathway K-5, whose partnership helps ensure these recognition efforts meaningfully support their school communities. In recognition of Principal's Day this year, each principal was presented with a gift card to a local restaurant as a small token of appreciation for their leadership, dedication, and continued commitment to students, teachers, and school communities.

Teacher appreciation is about more than gift cards and meals. It is about investing in the people who invest in children. It is about strengthening school culture, improving morale, encouraging retention, and reminding educators that the work they do matters.

The teachers and staff serving Avenue students show up every day with compassion, creativity, patience, and dedication. Fuse Project is honored to celebrate them and remains committed to supporting the educators who help make student success possible, because every child deserves an opportunity to succeed, regardless of their ZIP code.
