Read MoreFuse Project’s member organization, Order of Fuse, is a social, professional, networking group with a mission to also give back to the community while having fun and making meaningful connections. This diverse group of young professionals is comprised of movers, shakers, and difference makers in our city. We host a series of social events throughout the year for members to get to know each other. As a bonus, at the end of the year, their remaining dues are distributed to community organizations of their choosing through a competitive grant process. This year’s grant will be awarded at our upcoming Spring Soirèe on Sunday, May 15.

Read MoreWe are so excited about the upcoming 2nd annual Lip Sync Battle presented by Infirmary Health on February 3, 2022! In consideration of COVID conditions, this event will be held in downtown Mobile outside, in Cathedral Square. We plan to follow all recommended guidelines by state and local authorities at the time of the event.

We began meeting back in June to determine a flavor profile, distribution plan, and a launch event to coincide with our annual fundraising campaign, Light the Fuse. The result was our carefully crafted Fuse Project Hazy Pale Ale.

Select teams will compete before a panel of celebrity judges and peers for the chance to take home the trophy and earn Hall of Fame status. Teams will be made up of community members, not entertainment professionals, who will be preparing their best moves and costumes in the weeks leading up to the competition.

Read MoreIn August, our board of directors had the opportunity to visit with the Bayou District Foundation in New Orleans and tour their Purpose Built Community which employs this same type of place-based approach as The Historic Avenue Foundation. What this group of individuals has done for their community is nothing short of incredible. By addressing all of the determinants of poverty at once, they have seen an amazing transformation over the last 15 years with remarkable results, such as a 99% decrease in violent crime and doubling the number of individuals attending college.

Read MoreOne of our small groups provided summer activity bags for students at Florence Howard Elementary School. The activity bags were filled with fun toys, games, puzzles, coloring books, and more! The bags gave children the opportunity to entertain themselves in an engaging and stimulating way, especially when sitting at home on a “boring” summer afternoon.
