Order of Fuse Fall Fetè: The Beginning of an Exciting Membership Year

Fall Fete

Order of Fuse is Fuse Project’s membership organization made up of diverse local professionals who want to give back to their community in a unique way. Membership provides the opportunity to meet new people, enjoy great social events, and partake in community outreach, all while impacting the lives of local children!

This Fall, Order of Fuse gathered to celebrate the beginning of their wonderful membership year. The setting for this enchanting affair was nothing short of magical at The Hummingbird Way in the beautiful Oakleigh Garden Historic District. A tastefully decorated venue welcomed members into an ambiance of sophistication and warmth. The air buzzed with excitement as guests mingled, eager to embark on a culinary journey like no other.

The Hummingbird Way is an upscale oyster bar helmed by the acclaimed Chef Jim Smith. The Hummingbird Way focuses on the best local seafood, ingredients, and food traditions that make Mobile such a special food destination. Chef Smith is best known for his appearances on two seasons of Top Chef, winning the Great American Seafood Cook-Off, being the Chairman of the Alabama Seafood Marketing Commission, and serving eight years as the Executive Chef for the State of Alabama.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the diverse array of dinner stations that awaited our members. Each station featured a unique culinary experience, showcasing a variety of flavors and textures. From oyster appetizers to a pork chop crown roast main course, the menu was curated to satisfy even the most discerning palates. To complement the exquisite dishes, special attention was given to wine pairings. Chef Jim guided members through a carefully curated selection of wines, enhancing the overall dining experience. Whether a connoisseur or a casual enthusiast, everyone had the opportunity to discover new and delightful combinations. In addition to savoring the finest meal imaginable, the perfect finale awaited us in the form of a timeless classic – a delectable chocolate chip cookie for dessert!

Friendsgiving Lunch

In November, Order of Fuse members gathered at one of our favorite spots, Moe’s Original BBQ for a casual lunch to reflect on the year so far and receive updates on exciting 2024 plans! Amidst the hustle and bustle of the season, this gathering offered a welcome opportunity to express gratitude to our members who have been truly instrumental in positively shaping our community. It was a moment of appreciation for their dedicated efforts and meaningful contributions.

Impact/Volunteering

Order of Fuse membership impacts a child’s future! In addition to a wonderful celebration, Order of Fuse members had numerous opportunities to volunteer within The Historic Avenue Foundation’s ABC Academic Support Program. Last year’s $25,000 OOF Grant expanded the ABC Academic Support Program from one school to three schools which has significantly increased the footprint and impact we have in the Avenue community. This means over 900 students within Florence Howard Elementary, Calloway-Smith Middle, and Pathway K-5 receive access to learning incentives such as school clubs, celebrations, and more!

The Fall season served as a glimpse into the exciting journey that lies ahead in this Order of Fuse membership year. Stay tuned for more to come!
