Catching Up with Calloway-Smith Middle School: A Journey of Growth and Achievement

Pizza for Progress

Middle school can be a challenging season in life and at Fuse Project, we take great pride in honoring students who are thriving during this pivotal time in their academic journey. Fuse Project’s ABC Academic Support Program bridges the literacy gap by funding and organizing student incentive programs. We recently had the honor of sponsoring a pizza party incentive at one of our partner schools, Calloway-Smith Middle School, as they celebrated students who achieved A and A/B honor roll status for the 1st Quarter. These students were recognized not only for their academic excellence but also for their dedication to reaching their full potential.

As the honored students entered the classroom, their faces lit up with surprise. They received warm welcomes from Fuse Project staff, Order of Fuse volunteers, and Calloway-Smith staff. The students heard an encouraging word from Calloway’s principal, Mrs. Nedra Payton. She affirmed the students in their efforts and congratulated them on their success. As students were served pizza and drinks, they listened to a motivational speaker share his testimony of overcoming adversity.

Each student who earned A or A/B honor roll status received a Certificate of Achievement, acknowledging their hard-earned success. And to add to the celebration, every student was gifted a $10 gift card as a token of appreciation for their commitment to their studies. Behind the scenes, dedicated volunteers from Order of Fuse – Haley Courtney, Maddie Wright, and Harley Griffin – ensured that every student felt valued and celebrated.

Events like the Pizza Party at Calloway-Smith Middle School go beyond celebration – they serve as powerful reminders of the importance of education, community, and recognition. Together, we can continue to create supportive learning environments that foster academic and personal growth.

BOO! for YOU!

We had so much fun delivering some BOO! Project Kits to teachers at Calloway-Smith! These kits were part of our BOO! Project Fundraiser during the months of September and October. Through our ABC Academic Support Program our goal is to bridge educational disparities for teachers and students by providing supplemental resources, such as academic and extracurricular clubs, student incentives, mentoring programs, and teacher appreciation events. While this may just be a bag of seasonal goodies, we hope it conveys to these educators that their work matters and is appreciated. No act of kindness is too small!
